The EV nonsense debunked:

https://www.tu.no/artikler/elbil-mindre-miljovennlig-enn-diesel/245709

Looks like he's comparing apples and bananas. He expects gasoline / diesel to enters the tank in a "magical way", which certainly is not a case. If the oil is expected to be pumped up from the sea depth, transported ashore, refined (which is very energy-intensive), transported over long distances in tankers and then burned in an ICE car with perhaps 20-30% efficiency, then the calculation becomes different .

It is a bit special that he counts 50% efficiency in the electricity production and then it adds up to the efficiency of an electric motor. It is true that the article writes that electric motors have 90% efficiency. One must also count on approx. 10% transfer loss + a small charge loss.

It does not seem as if the calculation is an honest attempt to compare electricity and fossil: you can get the outcome you want by including the factors you want.

Electric Cars Release Less CO2 Over Lifetime Than Diesel Cars Even When Powered By Dirtiest Electricity In EU

Even when they are powered exclusively by the “dirtiest” grid-provided electricity in the world, plug-in electric vehicles are responsible for a smaller greenhouse gas footprint than diesel cars are, according to a new lifecycle analysis from VUB University (Brussels) and Transport & Environment (T&E).

Debunking the Caterpillar meme

To sum up again, this time with the correct numbers: the ICE will still produce 160,000 * 150 = 24 tons of CO 2 the electric car will prod...
